Built on timber, brought together by family

Our commitment to craft and sustainability has been a longstanding legacy, even preceding Fluxwood itself. Over 35 years of Australian woodworking flows through every pendant and timber creation. In the early days of Fluxwood, a close partnership with Currumbin Woodworks (owned by Shari’s dad, Chris), brought innovative, local lighting to the Australian market through our Tenn and Hollow Pendants.

Over the years we’ve continued to push the boundaries of design while celebrating the enduring, natural properties of timber. Our growing range of local lighting is made with intention and sustainability in mind: never predictable and never mass produced. As a certified Australian Made business, we’re proud to infuse local warmth, light and character into the homes and commercial spaces of fellow Australians.

Meet the Team

Shari
Director & Designer

After graduating with Honors as an Industrial Designer, Shari has enjoyed a diverse design career. Spanning a decade, Shari has lectured Design at Griffith University and collaborated closely with creators across the globe. Her appreciation for timber and experimental approach to design has disrupted the way we traditionally approach local lighting – hence the successful rise of Fluxwood. Shari’s ongoing commitment to ethical manufacturing and involved approach to creating each piece has cemented Fluxwood’s position in the Australian market.

Chris
Solid Timber Craftsman

Since 1983 Shari’s dad Chris has worked with solid timber from his Currumbin workshop. Focusing on custom made pieces, his expertise and hands-on approach to woodworking has seen him be an integral part of Fluxwood since inception. An ongoing commitment to sharing his wealth of knowledge (and love for hardwood timbers) is threaded through every Fluxwood creation.

Bob
Electrical Technician & Lighting Designer

With over 17 years in manufacturing, Bob has extensive knowledge of lighting networks and distribution. A qualified electrician, his steadfast commitment to excellent lighting design and operation balances aesthetics with practicality. His attention to detail has allowed Fluxwood to consistently deliver high-end local lighting that is both beautiful and technically correct.

Timea
Workshop Manager & Woodworker

Originally from Hungary, Timea spends her days organising the workshop and keeping production on track. Her meticulous eye for detail is invaluable to Fluxwood as she imparts her love for solid timber (living in a little log cabin is just the beginning!) whilst continuing to learn and evolve her craft.
